Dear aspiring R/C pilot:
We are happy to help you learn to fly an R/C glider. York County Soaring provides R/C flight training on Saturday afternoons from around 12 - 3 pm at the old air strip on the plains road Hollis. The instruction is free, but when you are competent enough to fly solo you will need to become a member of the AMA, you should join the AMA as soon as posable. This is mandatory because AMA membership provides liability insurance, required by almost all clubs and site operators, details can be found at www.modelaircraft.org (the YCS website also provides a link on the links page). All R/C flyers at the Field are required to be AMA members however this is not enforced for training where the student operates under the membership of the instructor.
Although the instruction is free we encourage you to join our YCS club where you can take advantage of a wealth of information, raffles, swap meets and other deals. If you are serious about becoming involved in our addictive pastime, this membership can save you hours of misdirected work and frustration.
An instructor is at the field almost every Saturday, but there is no guaranty. We recommend you contact Ken at (207) 637-3120 or ken@ycsoaring.com the day before.
